Werneth Swing Band

The swing band was formed in 2005 from members of Werneth Concert Band who had expressed an interest in playing swing/big band music. Initially we rehearsed only occasionally in preparation for playing at the Werneth Concert Band Annual BBQ. In 2007, reflecting a growing interesting the band, we started rehearsing regularly and began to receive requests to play at private and public engagements.

The Werneth Swing Band consists of a standard swing/big band line-up, made up of alto, tenor baritone saxophones, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section comprising of rhythm and bass guitar, keyboard and drum kit. The band is directed by Allan Jones, who also directs the concert band.

As its popularity increases, the band has been invited to play at engagements across the Greater Manchester area and also played at the opening of an Arts Exhibition in Beverley, Yorkshire. It continues be an activity of Werneth Concert Band and accompanied the main band on our concert tour of Spain at the end of May 2010, giving two performances.



The band rehearses usually rehearses one Sunday a month from 6.30 – 9pm at Romiley Conservative Club, Guywood Lane, Romiley, Stockport and members of the public are welcome to come along to listen to the band. Please contact us for more details.
