Tour Update
Last Saturday Allan, Nick, John and I caught the 7.20am flight to
Jersey for three days of venue research and meetings. The flight took
one hour, long enough to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
After landing at 8.30am we had a short walk to the baggage reclaim to
pick up the luggage which was already on the carousel. Thirty minutes
later we were in our hotel.
All the concert venues were visited and we met with various people who
were extremely helpful. I am sure we will receive the same level of
support in May. One example was from The Jersey Tourist Board who is
prepared to circulate flyers to 120 hotels on the island.
Durrell’s have offered free entry for everyone on Sunday and will
also arrange for 3 guides to give you a tour that will last
approximately 1 ½ hours. Great for the kids and grown ups.
George the ex-circus gibbon might even put on a show for you whilst
Hazel looks on in disgust.
There will be 2 afternoon and 3 evening concerts. This will enable
plenty of free time for island exploration. We visited the Jersey War
Tunnels which is highly recommended.
On Monday evening John and Allan were met in the Cocktail Bar by a
member of Premier Brass who wasn’t sure who he was to meet. All
he knew was they were playing a concert with our Band. Several hours
were spent talking about mutual musician contacts.
More information will be circulated as we get closer to the trip
